I was friends with Carmen in college and then we lost touch after I graduated.  I never would have guessed that our paths would cross again the way that they did.  Her older sister Lynn, who I was also friends with, has started shooting for me.  Many of you have met her a time or two at weddings that she’s shot with me.  Carmen just recently moved back to East Tennessee and took a job with TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention Services) and has become our in home therapist for Noah!  She’s been wonderful and I feel like his biggest strides have been a direct result from working with her.  We’re so fortunate to have her back in our lives.

Just a few months ago, she got engaged to Chris Walker, her best friend of 15 years.  I think that the only 2 people who didn’t know they were going to end up together were Carmen and Chris!  The decided to get married in Ocean Isle, NC (just an hour north of Pawleys Island which is where I was the weekend before with Wells and Kate).  I was able to ride out there with Chris and Carmen and spend the week with her family.  It was really nice to get away and spend some time on the coast.  I was even able to get up to Wilmington to see my friend Millie Holloman and her crew.  Everything was the way a low key beach wedding should be.  Everyone was really laid back and there were very few stresses.  The only thing I think we all would have changed would be having a coordinator for the day of.  I was shooting and directing the processional at the same time!  It went well though and there weren’t any hiccups.  Anyway, I’m going to stop chit chatting and show you the pictures already.  I’m also putting her b.session pictures at the end of the post.  We went to our Alma Mater Carson-Newman.  Very Fun!

“Easy, Breezy, Beautiful, COVERGIRL!!!

They decided (and by they, I mean Chris) not to see each other before.  They couldn’t stay away though!  So between their photo time in the schedule, they met at a corner for a quick chat…but never actually saw eachother….which made for a cool shot.

Chris is a musician and wanted to sing to Carmen as she walked down the aisle.  That was a first for me.  I was actually wondering if he was going to make it.  He did!  it was really beautiful and I got this awesome shot of Carmen watching him sing.

Her ring was a surprise, so this Carmen seeing her wedding ring for the first time as he put it on her finger.

After we did pictures with everyone, we hopped in the car and drove a mile down the beach to this amazing pier.  I LOVE all the lines!

Carmen’s dad is a potter, Alewine Pottery, and he made the cups for the reception that everyone took home.

Chris sang a song that he wrote about Carmen at the reception.

I’m excited that I can finally post Sarah’s Bridal Session we did about a month ago because she got married yesterday! It was a beautiful wedding complete with a star studded guest list….at least to the Velasco household!!!  More on that later when I have pictures to blog.  For now, let’s focus on the super cool chick formerly known as Miss Sarah Alexander!  I’ve always wanted to shoot at The Bleak House and I thought that it fit what Sarah wanted perfectly.  My neighbor Jessi joined me for the festivities and I’ll post the link when she gets hers up.  When I saw Sarah in her dress, I knew we made the right decision to use Bleak House….it was a perfect fit!  I don’t know if I need to tell you any more because you can see from the pictures that we had a good time.

***UPDATE***  Here is the link to Jessi’s Blog Post……CLICK HERE!!!

I had to get a good shot of her ring because I know that Rusty picked out all by himself and he’s really proud of it!

Sarah has such a great smile

I love the silhouette of Sarah’s dress.  “Mermaid” cuts were made for girls like Sarah!

Look at this yummy light and lens flare!

Sarah was fearless!  Whenever I ask my brides to do something, it’s always followed by “if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then we can do something else”.  Before I could get that out of my mouth, she would say “SURE!!” and hop up on a column!

She wanted to do some pictures with a cowboy hat and boots because Rusty is from Texas.

Sarah is one of my brides that still has a love for some of the more traditional pictures.  Yes, even though I love to do crazy off the wall stuff, I can still accommodate those who still want a traditional picture…as long as it’s kept to a minimum and you still let me go a little nuts.

This is my favorite one.  In fact, I blew it up to a huge print to put at the upcoming bridal shows!  So make sure you come by my booth on August 17 to see it BIG!  We displayed it at the reception last night and it looked awesome!  I think it’s very Anthropology.

I did my sister’s bridal session back in March down in Atlanta.  She asked me not to post any of the pictures till after the wedding.  Since they got married on Saturday, I’m free to post!

Noah was watching Handy Manny or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or something like that.

He took a break to see what was going on…but a brief one because his stories were on.

That’s Shannon.  She came down to Callaway to do all of our hair and started with me at 7am!

Then we took it down to The Fox Theatre

This was in a great little bar/restaurant right next to The Fox.  It’s called Bazzaar and has the coolest atmosphere.  They were so kind to let us shoot in there some.  If you happen to make your way in there, make sure you told them that you heard about them from this post.

For a little garden feel, we went to one of the parks in Ansley Park.

While we were over there, we went to our cousin’s house for a great solid background.

Something I had been wanting to do for a while was shoot on some escalators.  I really wanted to go into Bloomingdale’s because it’s always so light and the escalators made really cool lines.  So we got permission to shoot and they even turned off one of the escalators for us so she didn’t have to ride up and down and try to pose.  Thanks Bloomies!
