I’ve just learned about this awesome jewelry designer named Diana Warner.  She did the jewelry from Matt and Kelly’s wedding in Hilton Head.  She even named a collection after Kelly!!!  I just love her style.  Every piece is incredibly unique and just has flare that’s genius.  I love it all Diana!  I sent her some pictures from Kelly and Matt’s wedding for their look book and she put them on her press release!  So if you’re looking for some jewelry to give your bridesmaids that’s different and classy, get something from Diana.

Noah Update

Our in home therapist, Carmen, came to see us today for our weekly visit.  We always look forward to her coming because she’s done such an amazing job with Noah and he’s really taken to her.  When she came a couple of weeks ago, we went over some goals that he’s reached to get an idea of how far he’s come.  So she had the results tonight.  With almost 2 months of work, he’s made about 3 months worth of improvement!  In most areas, he’s at about where a 24 month old should be except for speech which he’s at about where a 15 month old is.  The biggest improvement though was in the social area.  When we first did the evaluation, he registered at about a 16 month old and this time he registered as a 24 month old!!!  Yes, he’s still behind by about 7 or 8 months (according to whoever the experts are), but the social area is where most of his autism red flags were….AND HE’S COME SO FAR IN THAT AREA!!!!!  We still haven’t had an autism evaluation, but I think that this speaks volumes about how much he’s improved.  I’m so proud of him!!!

I just got an email from my friend Beth about Nordstrom discontinuing their make-up line E.L.F (eyes lips face).  Everything on the website is an absolute steal.  Most everything is $1.  The gift sets are around $10 or $15.  I just got a ton of stuff.  Here’s the link, www.eyeslipsface.com.

Miss Sarah’s B.Session

I’m excited that I can finally post Sarah’s Bridal Session we did about a month ago because she got married yesterday! It was a beautiful wedding complete with a star studded guest list….at least to the Velasco household!!!  More on that later when I have pictures to blog.  For now, let’s focus on the super cool chick formerly known as Miss Sarah Alexander!  I’ve always wanted to shoot at The Bleak House and I thought that it fit what Sarah wanted perfectly.  My neighbor Jessi joined me for the festivities and I’ll post the link when she gets hers up.  When I saw Sarah in her dress, I knew we made the right decision to use Bleak House….it was a perfect fit!  I don’t know if I need to tell you any more because you can see from the pictures that we had a good time.

***UPDATE***  Here is the link to Jessi’s Blog Post……CLICK HERE!!!

I had to get a good shot of her ring because I know that Rusty picked out all by himself and he’s really proud of it!

Sarah has such a great smile

I love the silhouette of Sarah’s dress.  ”Mermaid” cuts were made for girls like Sarah!

Look at this yummy light and lens flare!

Sarah was fearless!  Whenever I ask my brides to do something, it’s always followed by “if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then we can do something else”.  Before I could get that out of my mouth, she would say “SURE!!” and hop up on a column!

She wanted to do some pictures with a cowboy hat and boots because Rusty is from Texas.

Sarah is one of my brides that still has a love for some of the more traditional pictures.  Yes, even though I love to do crazy off the wall stuff, I can still accommodate those who still want a traditional picture…as long as it’s kept to a minimum and you still let me go a little nuts.

This is my favorite one.  In fact, I blew it up to a huge print to put at the upcoming bridal shows!  So make sure you come by my booth on August 17 to see it BIG!  We displayed it at the reception last night and it looked awesome!  I think it’s very Anthropology.

Now that I’m almost caught up with wedding posts, I need to start catching up with some of the family sessions I’ve done recently.  I shot Karlen and Allison back on father’s day.  We had such a great time being dinosaurs, looking for rolli-pollis and playing in this amazing garden where we think some fairies may live!

Marshall and Tiffany

I’m sort of getting caught up with all of my blogging.  Marshall and Tiffany (aka Michelle) got married on June 14th at the Knoxville Convention Center.  They were such a fun group.  It just so happened that “Adventure Con 2008″ was being held in the ballrooms on the first level.  There were people dressed up everywhere!  When there was any downtime, we would all look over the railings at all of the Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica, video game characters, etc..  There were some truly incredible costumes, I mean, incredibly elaborate.  So of course, we had to get a picture with some of them.  You’ll see that below.  Anyway, back to Tiffany and Marshall.  I think you’re going to like their pictures.  Enjoy!

Mike and Janelle’s e.session…BOWLING!

I met Mike and Janelle at the January bridal show.  They were the last couple to come through and I ended up talking to them the most.  My mom asked me at least once a week for months if I had heard from them until I finally did!  I felt such a great connection with them.  We’ve had so much fun every time we’ve gotten together.  They went bowling for the first date, so we HAD to go bowling!  I had been wanting to do a shoot in a bowling alley for a while, so I was pumped when they thought it was a great idea.  I have to brag on the folks at Strike and Spare on Western Avenue.  They were so wonderful to use.  They put us in a separate room so we had about 15 lanes to ourselves.  You’ll see how great they were because they let us go nuts!  It was a little nerve racking because they kept coming in and watching us….that always makes me a little nervous!  Make sure that you guys go over there and show them some love.

Then we headed to downtown K-Town.

Mike and Janelle are both from Colorado, but they met here in Knoxville.  They wanted to make sure we got a picture with something that said Knoxville.

Nice jump Mr. Weatherman!

Easy there Janelle…

one good turn deserves another!

Blake and Bridgette

I shot Blake and Bridgette’s wedding the day after Mike and Courtney’s.  I was a little nervous because I had never done 2 weddings in 1 weekend before, but it was the perfect pair of weddings.  Blake and Bridgette were so easy going and laid back.  We were at Whitestone Inn for the wedding and reception, so we had a ton of time to play around.  They had a surprise for me and I have a surprise for you.  They’re the first couple to get a fun little surprise from me because they were so willing to, well, have some “atypical” fun.

So I’ve been trying to do something different with dates this year.  I don’t always have an opportunity to do something, but my girl Katie came up with the idea to make the date out of the bridal party.  So we took the easy road and did the roman numerals.  I hope that makes sense!  I think it turned out pretty cool.

The girls were not going to be out done!

So here is fun little surprise #1.  They busted out a little thriller during Blake and Bridgette’s first dance.

They left the reception in a horse drawn carriage.

Since we had some pretty sweet light, we took advantage of it in the wildflower garden.

The church they were married in is the one in the background.

SURPRISE #2!!!!!  We were discussing where we wanted to go in the carriage and I jokingly said that if they wanted to jump in the water, I wouldn’t stop them….as many of you former bride’s have heard!  I saw a little sparkle in Bridgette’s eyes and knew she was sold.  So we went down to the boat ramp and just played around in the water some.  I have to tell you that water has never felt so good!  It was about 100 degrees all day and we all just wanted to chill in the water for a little while.

I know that you brides and mothers are freaking out a little bit.  Yes, the water looked a little nasty and the boat ramp was not clean.  HOWEVER, when Bridgette came out of the water, her dress looked the exact same, just wet.  Her dress was not ruined and will clean just fine!  As I’ve said before, they are going to get a lovely little surprise from me.  Everyone who does something will get something different depending on who they are and what they desire.

new credit card scam?
July 10, 2008, 1:12 pm

You will rarely get a forward from me, ever.  The only time I forward something is if I think it’s too funny to keep to myself.  My dad just sent me a new credit card scam email.  Apparently snopes.com says that it’s true.  Instead of boring you with the entire email, here are the basics.

1) someone from “visa” or “mastercard”

2) they will tell you that there has been some strange activity on your card

3) they’ll ask you to verify if you purchased something from the $297-$497 range and when you say no, they’ll say they’ll credit you the charge that was made between that sum before your next statement.

4) apparently the trick here is that they already have your information and they won’t ask you for anything out of the ordinary.  At some point they’ll ask you for your security code on the back of your card.  That’s the kicker.  They don’t have your security code.

5) if you think that this is a fraud but don’t want to turn down an actual call from visa in the event that this is actually happening, tell them that you’ll call them back to verify your conversation.  Then call the actual number on your card to speak to someone about your account.

6) bottom line, why should you have to verify to them that you have your card in your possession?  If someone stole your card, you would asking them to send you a new card.  It’s fishy that they’re asking you for proof that you have your card.

I have a little experience with Visa’s anti-fraud department.  I made a big purchase (for some stinkin awesome studio lights) from B&H back in December over the internet.  They wouldn’t let my card go through because it was outside of my normal purchase dollar amounts, they were NOT cheap.  As I picked up the phone to call Visa, it rang and they were calling me.  I was extremely impressed at how quickly they acted on my behalf to make sure that my card hadn’t been stolen, verified my purchase, and moved it through.

Whether this scam is true or not, it’s good to know that they’re getting sneakier about everything because they never ask you anything out of the ordinary.  You can never get to comfortable.
